Iterative Algorithm for Computed Tomography from Incomplete Data

Description:

This is an iterative algorithm for Computed Tomography (CT) that is applicable to all known CT imaging geometry and scanning loci. This algorithm has a rigorous mathematical foundation, guarantees monotonic and nonnegative convergence to the solution that optimally fits measured data in the sense of the I-divergence. This algorithm can be used to reconstruct an image from incomplete projection data. In practice, projection can be blocked by X-ray opaque structures, or trruncated when an object is too large, or the data acquisition aperture is too small. This invention helps one to reconstruct and recreate those portions hat have not been imaged, thereby completing the picture.
