Targeted Delivery of Dopamine Transporter Genes to Dopamine Neurons (MTA)
An adeno-associated virus vector delivering genes controlled by a tyrosine hydroxylase promoter to dopaminergic neurons.
Adeno-associated viruses (AAVs) were created to specifically deliver genes to dopaminergic neurons. The proof-of-principle experiment delivered DAt under the control of a tyrosine hydroxylase promoter in a mouse model of dopamine deficiency syndrome (DTDS).
